John Menick • A Report on the City

John Menick is extremely versatile: not only does he write essays and short stories, he also works as an artist and produces films and radio plays. His novella-like book Report on the City consists of short stories and essays, casually mixing fictional and non-fictional forms. Menick's "reports" and "descriptions" are united by their sense of humor and their connection to Mexico City, where he lived for almost two years. The author himself describes his characters as "roaming detectives, hypocritical storytellers, homeless documentarians, mad travelers, and institutional cinephiles."
